Hi guys,
IIRC (not always a given), I was looking for a good sig. gen. abt a yr
ago, thought I wanted an HP 8640. I was told by a fellow in the service
business that the 8640's were beginning to have an age related problem.
The plastic (nylon? not sure) of the band change mechanism had reached an
age where it has embrittled, and was fracturing. Ireparably. He said
that service shops that were using them set things up so they could leave
a unit on one band, maybe having more than one unit at a test bench, each
on a band.
I ended up with a later model HP.
Your mileage may vary.
