AN/URM-25's are just fine.  I also used an older Triplett generator for a
long time with fair results.  I found that if you had an accurate receiver
nearby, it's almost as good as a counter.  Just set the frequency you want,
and zero-beat the gen - joila'

Almost anything will work, but it's preferable to have a generator with
calibrated output, or at least SHIELDED output.  Most of the "El Cheapo"
generators leak a lot.  Highly recommended (if you can find one) is an H-P
606 or 606A.  It goes from 50kc to 65mc, and provides all the stuff you need
for IF strips, single and double conversion rcvrs, and signal injection.
The H-P 608 series go from 10mc to 430mc (some versions).
