Hi Brent,
    I have a S-41G and have owned it since new (Christmas present from 
my Dad in 1946).
The bottom is metal and it does have four rubber feet.  I can make a 
copy of the back panel if you need a pattern.  I made a back for a S-38 
from some press-board backing which I got from an automotive upholstery 
shop (scraps - no cost).  I used a sharpened tube and a drill press to 
punch the holes and an exacto knife to cut slots out.  You can buy back 
panels for the S-38 which might work.  Let me know if you need the 
pattern.
