A few months ago I bought an S-20 (not 20R) on that
unmentionable site.  It was located in LA.  When it
arrived, I discovered that the top of the cover was
stencilled in silver paint, "Columbia Broadcasting
System Hollywood."  This radio may well have an
interesting history.  Sometimes, back in the 30s,
remote broadcasts were transmitted to the studio on HF
frequencies.  

If anyone has any photos of the CBS operation in
Hollywood or of remotes in the LA area, that show an
S-20, I'd love to see them.

This particular radio has a number of rather extensive
modifications in the audio circuitry.  I haven't had
time to trace them out yet.  It also has a Philco
power transformer, obviously a replacement, but a
drop-in fit.
