Well, see how dumb I must look, after responding to the LATEST digest, when
there were 2 others before it - arghhh.  I recall a local "live"
presentation, done on a TV station in Kansas City, back in the EARLY 50's (I
was a kid).  The had what appeared to be a home-made "breadboard" xtal set -
using it as a geiger counter in the true McArthy fashion.
