I don't think you can lay the blame on eBay. eBay simply provides a meeting
place for buyers and sells. Sure, there are some scam artists at work on
eBay, but they are few. The real reason for increasing prices of surplus
military stuff or old tube type ham gear, or you name it old stuff is an
ever dwindling supply and a ever increasing demand for it. 20 years ago you
couldn't give away old AM gear. Now, people fight over it.
Actually, eBay has done a service by providing an arena where you find out a
true value for an item. You may not like the price you find, but the price
is what the market values it.
Being a real estate appraiser in a costal area of Florida, I see this in
action every day. More and more people want water front property. The
absolute amount of it is fixed, and the available supply of it is
decreasing. Prices go up.

Whatever happened to the days when you could buy any military surplus
electronics such as an Arc - 5 for dirt cheap? The answer is that dirty
word, Ebay.
