[Hallicrafters] A good shortwave receiver wanted

I still honor and adore my old HQ140X, but it's a tad big and heavy. My
S38A is convient and plays nice salsa in the office, but is not all THAT
good. A S40 would work better, is slightly larger. My Radio shack
digital AM/FM/SW radio is the size of a installment of Funk & Wagnal's,
but plays like mad and gets the stations with digital accuracy.

But here is a nice cheap DIGITAL rig:

And one with analog tuning for less cash:

Both are well reccomended. Now just how GOOD does his word GOOD mean?

Doesn't have to be new, doesn't have to have station memories.... want it mostly to get the weak ones down in the dirt. Had a good Collins R-390 once but that is just too big and heavy. Want something that I can put on the nightstand next to the bed. Go any recommendations?
