OK, a quick clusty.com search answered one question,
Alps is a manufacturer with several models.

I see them refurbished for $299. and $399. on one
site -- must be some kind of fancy dot matrix
printer indeed!  We have all thrown many of the
old dot matrix printers away over the years.
