Before you order an HC6/U crystal take a look at the
clock crystals available from Mouser. They typically
use the HC49/U holder (smaller than the HC6/U and with
wire leads). However, the wire leads can be bent to
fit the HC6/U socket and the crystals are as cheap as
36 cents each.
The crystals are available in series resonance, and
either 32 pf or 20 pf load.
I use these type of crystals in tube type VHF
converters all the time. They are MUCH cheaper, and
just as accurate (if not more so) than the much higher
priced HC6/U crystals that are made by the various
crystal manufacturers.
Here is the URL of the Mouser site with the 32.000 MHz
crystals:
http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?&handler=data.listcategory&D=*32.000*%2b*MHz*%2b*crystal*&terms=32.000+MHz+crystal&Ntt=*32.000*%2b*MHz*%2b*crystal*&Dk=1&Ns=SField&N=0&crc=false
Mouser does NOT have a minimum order amount for the
United States, Mexico, or Canada.

I want to order a crystal for my HT-32mkI so I can
move transmit into the 28-28.5mhz. band space. I think
I need 32.mhz. crystal, but that part is in my books.
