Yes, the SX-28 will mount in a standard 19 inch rack. It was often supplied with
a table top cabinet, and many you will see are still in their original
cabinets.

It seems to me that an SX-28 is an ideal complement to the BC-610.

The problem you may find with an SX-28 is that overhauling one is a very very
big job. There are many paper caps that must be replaced, and many resistors
likely will have drifted in value and need to be replaced also. Mechanically,
the thing is difficult to work on because of the layering and density of parts
around the RF sections.

Look up SX-28 restoration on the internet.  You will find a number of
restorations described. It will give you an idea of what would need to be done
to one that has not been restored already.

See the October, 1944 issue of QST for an article about radio stations in Alaska
and the Aleutian Islands used to guide our warplanes over to the Pacific at
that time.  The article shows many SX-28's, in racks, being used.  That
receiver was presumably as good as you could get in 1944.
