pristine copy of the entire manual some time ago.  Select Hallicrafters and
look under "S Meter".  The entry looks like this:

"Hallicrafters Service Bulletins 1954-8 and 1954-10 covering the
installation of an S-Meter for Models S20R, S38 series, S40A, S40B, S40BU,
