Interesting but I'm a little confused by the somewhat glib prose and lack of details in the
article. The author, Marc Perton, could have a little less amusing and a bit more informative.
For instance, who is prevented from buying older gear - commercial concerns, hobbyists,
etc.? Is one ham going to be prevented from buying from another ham? The article doesn't
really define what kinds of gear the law applies to or its scope. Why was it so important that a
law was passed? Maybe it is meant to apply to test equipment used in manufacturing. I find it
hard to believe that BA's will become verboten. How could they police private transactions?
Can you imagine the government trying something like that here!? Don't answer that
question...
I have a Japanese friend who is an engineer. I'll ask him if he knows what this is about.
