Hi Dan,
    If you're talking about manuals you buy on ebay, particularly ones on
CD, you're about right.  Many of those sellers just take (steal) what Ken
Grimm has made available (free) on BAMA, or elswhere from the web, and are
just trying to make a buck with no expense other than a CD to copy onto &
a little time.
    If you purchase a paper manual from one of the reputable dealers such
as Al Bernard or Pete Markavage (and others), you'll get very good, and
reproducible, material.  They can provide color copies that will rival the
original, sometimes at a little price premium.
    The quality of the manuals on BAMA are what many of us have provided
from our own collections, usually from copies,  even 2nd or 3rd generation
copies, and they lose resolution even further in the scanning process.
Like Ken just said, if any of us can provide better material, he's happy
to make it available.
