I have, somewhere, on a disk, a picture of an SX-28
(A?) with a bottom cover, that I downloaded from an ad
on that unmentionable auction place about a year and a
half ago.. If I can find the picture I'll make it
available somehow. The picture is taken from an angle
but it does give a good idea of how to proceed. There
are both vent holes and some louvers (a la the SX-25)
on the underside.

Yes, this cover DOES enclose the ENTIRE chassis
bottom. It is one piece. There is no separate part
to cover the RF section.

I looked in every SX-28/28A/GRR-2 manual I could find,
and could not locate any part number for this cover
(nor is there one listed for the rackmount dust
cover).

I have contacted the seller in that auction a few
times about this cover, as he told me that he might be
able to have a few made. He first told me this at the
time the auction was running. He was apparently going
to have a CAD drawing prepared, and get the parts
machined. However, this has not happened yet. I just
tried to recontact him this week, in fact. We'll see.

It should not be too hard to make a bottom cover. An
easy way to start would be to make a tracing from the
underside of a cabonet, with a bottom cover in place.
The screw holes around the perimeter of the chassis
will give the outline and the holes/slots/etc in the
cabinet bottom cover would show the location of
alignment access points (yes, the front end is
supposed to be "finally" aligned with the cover in
place). These points will be different for an SX-28
and SX-28A.

I think the receiver he was selling was a 28A. (My
receiver is a 28, from late 1941 as far as I can
tell.)

It should not be hard to closely approximate the
location of vents or louvers. As I recall the
picture, these are beneath the power supply and/or the
audio section.

I'll try to find the disk later this week.
