In addition to this just because a tube was marked with one particular brand
did not necessarily mean that it was made by that manufacturer.  I was told
by a metallurgist who was involved with tube manufacturing that one company
might make a large run of one type of tube and put several different
manufacturers' names on them.

Most tube manufacturers (inlcuding RCA) would "private
brand" if a large enough volume was purchased.
