There is another side to the to the pay by PayPal story.  Some eBay seller
are stopping taking PayPal because of their money refund policy for
defective items.  Buyers are paying by PayPal, receiving the item, and
claiming a refund from PayPal under their buyer protection plan.  PayPal
will refund their money with little or no substantiation of their claim.
The buyer then keeps the item and the seller is stuck for an item that was
not defective or falsely described.

This has not happened to me but I am considering accepting USPS money only.
The consideration is would some potential buyers not bid without the
convenience of PayPal and the fact that they can use credit cards.

It works both ways.

 Here is an excellent reason to pay by Pay Pal or credit card.  You can
get some, if not all of your money back in case of fraud, but you will
loose the shipping charge in moth directions. Then again, forewarned is
forearmed in the case of known fraudsters.

I recently bid on a scope and the seller subsequently found out that it
had no trace. (He was one of those folks who didn't know anything about
scopes)  In any event, he posted a note to his listing stating that
there was no trace and that any bidders were welcome to back out if they
wished. In addition to that, I received an individual email from him
stating the same facts and giving me the option to cancel my bid. We
need more folks like that!
