Hello All,
Bill Halligan moved from Boston, MA to Chicago, IL in 1928 according to a voice
recording of his that I have. He changed his call sign to W9WZE at this time.
Now, when was that call sign assigned to William Halligan, Sr.?
According to the recording, he said that he did not keep this call very long.
Unless I am totally off the mark here, which I may be, he did not get the Extra
class call of W9AC until the forties. When did he change his call to W9AC?
Who designed the H-13 and when was it first sold? According to this tape, Jim
McLaughlin, the same man who designed the DD-1 and SX-23, also designed the
H-13.
The way Bill talks, he had a H-13 at age fifteen or sixteen, about 1914, but
Dachis shows it as 1933. However, Chuck seems to indicate there were two models.
Is it possible that Bill Halligan had the one prior to Hallicrafters?
It is most interesting how the men who were there tell quite a different story
then the men decades later who wrote the 'historically accurate' accounts of it!
Some did their research well, and others seem to have written it with mor fancy
and fantasty than fact. As far as Bill Halligan, Sr. goes, I am convinced he has
the dates right, as when you check what he says against known rock solid facts,
he is right on the mark.
Thank you for your assistance gentlemen.
