Bill:
I started doing the same thing as you - downloading the pictures to get 
closer look, especially with dark photos. Ebay has now started a policy 
of stopping the downloading of auction photos. At first it was just one 
that I could not download but every day the number is growing.
As far as looking closely at the photos, I have always done that. On 
this auction the pertinent photo was taken at such an angle that the 
meter was not visable enough to see clearly (as if he knew the meter was 
bad).
