Most Hallicrafters have what the platers call "clear cad." Cadmium plating is 
getting harder to find these days due to various regulations but a shop in 
Winston Salem that I use still does it. Nothing like replating chassis 
components as a part of your restoration but it is a lot of work. Zinc is more commonly 
available and is replacing Cadmium industry wide but its appearance is much 
brighter and not like the original finish on your Hallicrafters if maintaining 
the original appearance is important to you. Some folks clean the rust and 
paint the chassis as a compromise way to at least improve the appearance.
