There was also a metal treatment called "phosphorised" around in those days.
I've also encountered it on vintage motorcycle guards and tanks. Its more of
a grey color.
Not sure whther it is what was used on the Hallic chassis though, my SX-101
chassis was in a terrible state.
Basically wherever dust had settled the chassis had rusted. Took a lot of
cleaning with the assistance of a rust dissolver to make it look only
slightly better.
