Hi John,
To summarize the below,
for the cabinet: Krylon 1613, Semi-Flat Black
for the lid: Plasticote #1542 Burnished Silver, or Duplicolor # T229W
Silver M, both are "truck & van" paint.
Here's what I wrote a while ago:

Hi Roger, et al,
This topic comes up regularly, and we just went thru it, tho' the
subject was R-42 & R-46 speakers. It ends up a subjective discussion, and
here's my subjective opinion, plus some experience.
The paint shade and reflectance probably both have aged differently on
different pcs of eqpt over the yrs, and there may have been more than one
actual mix that was used originally. Nobody can tell us for sure that
something "must be" a certain presently available paint. It comes down to
what the present owner thinks it oughta be, and what he wants it to be.
From what I've seen, the HT-32/SX-101 series (and Drake twins &
TR-3/4's) were very close
to the Rustoleum V7777, which I've used on them for yrs. I think the
S-40, and maybe the SX-71 & S-76, were closer to the Krylon 1613,
Semi-Flat Black. It is flatter than the Rustoleum V7777, and maybe just
because of the reflectance, it seems a little "lighter" black. They are
not the same. I think the speakers were also very close to the Krylon
1613, and I used it on an S-76 last yr.
For the silver you may use Plasticote #1542 Burnished Silver, or
Duplicolor # T229W Silver M, both are "truck & van" paint. I've used the
Duplicolor, and sometimes have covered it with a clear coat. I know I've
seen some tops that were more of a flat gray.
Glen has advised in the past that you take your cabinet or piece to a
place that mixes paint, Sherwin Williams (if it does commercial/industrial
paints), or an auto paint supplier. They can usually match what you
presently have, but maybe not the amount of gloss/flatness or reflectance.
I've had total failure trying to get certain Hammarlund Super Pro panels
matched that way. And the Sherwin Williams store here is
useless/clueless.
Again, it's all in the eye of the beholder.
73,
Al, W8UT
