[Hallicrafters] Early 60's Vintage Ham Stations

Greetings to all. I am new to this list. While I currently do not have a
Hallicrafters radio, my first receiver was an SX-140 that I had while
studying for my amateur licence. That was back in 1975. At the time I didn't
know anything about Hallicrafters, or that particular receiver. In fact I
didn't even have a manual for the receiver.

Last year at a Hamfest I saw an SX-140 and that started me thinking. Still
regret not buying it. From reading the archives of this list, it would appear
the SX-140 was an entry level receiver that was paired up with the HT-40
transmitter and in some stations the HA-5 VFO.

From what I have read, Hallicrafters' offerings of the time also included the
HA-1 TO Keyer, the R47 Speaker, and the SX-110 General Coverage Receiver. The
styling, colours, and knobs all seem to match.

So the bottom line is that I am thinking about putting a vintage station
together based on the SX-140 and HT-40. I do have a couple of questions:

1) What is the difference between the HT-40 and HT-40 MKI?

2) What other equipment did Hallicrafters make in the early 60's that would
match the styling, colours, and knobs of the SX-140 and HT-40?

73,
Darrell
