[Hallicrafters]V31#1; WARNING: 100% <>"Drinking" Ethanol!

While Alcohol is fine for the heads, it is not for the rubber parts. I have
worked with multi-track reel-to-reel pro-audio gear off and on for over 20
years. Tascam and other manufacturers supply a special rubber cleaner for
the pinch rollers and other rubber rollers in the tape path that conditions
while cleans the rubber. Alcohol will eventually dry out and ruin rubber
rollers over time.

I was under the impression that alcohol dried out rubber parts like
pinch rollers - my experience confirmed it. I used a number of cleaners
or conditioners on audio gear, but none were alcohol-based.
