That's weird! Was it used near a farm? (kidding, of course)
Some of my receivers have almost a greenish hue to them compared to
the transmitters. I have a spare 32V cabinet repainted by Howard's
painter. It's much darker, even has a bluish cast to it. Collins was
known for very tight quality control, but how does one keep paint
identical over different batches throughout the years?
But then, you have Hallicrafters cabinets used on things like the
SX-42, 101, HT-32, etc: some are a semi-gloss charcoal black cabinet
with dull silver cover, others are a dark gray cabint. A very
noticable difference.
Then there's the SX-42 front panel: some have a black bandspread
escutcheon, others are painted the same gray as the front panel.
Weird.
