[Hallicrafters] SX-62 Question

    The SX-62 series receivers were quite expensive in there day. Why were
there no S-meter, cw pitch control and most of all, no bandspread. Even the
xtal filter has no adjustment, just three fixed settings.
    My guess would be that this is a short-wave band cruiser, not really a
communications receiver.
    Any thoughts on this and other Hallicrafters equipment that mite of made
them just a little better?
