I am in the process of bringing a SX-62 back to life. I was in the process
of alignment when the 1st IF would not peak like I thought it should. I
removed the can (T-24) and proceeded to check those buried mica caps, inside
the can. Yeppers, you guessed it. Every one of them was wayyyyyyyyyyyy out
of specs. The 820 puff was well over 2000 puffs and the 27 was open. On
further checks of the other cans, finding the same problems but not so far
out of wack. I replaced the micas with silver micas and now am able to start
a realignment. Removing T-24 is no easy task. Just make sure you take it
easy and draw a diagram as to where the connections are. Oh, by the way, I
did not like how S-1 was tuning so I replaced the whole can with one from a
SX-42. Same can, different part number.
