Al is of course right that the RF input coils in the SX-115 are individual
and switched for each band, thereby giving a higher Q, whereas the SX-117
input is a broadband, tunable preselector, due to the additional coverage of
500 KHz segments by optional crystal positions a la Drake and Collins
configuration.
His sideband attenuation problems don't exist and the preselector action is
fairly sharp in a properly working SX-117, again, like in the Collins and
Drake counterparts (I also use a Drake B-line...)
