A great short wave receiver and stable enough (with a stiff line voltage) to
copy SSB on the lower frequencies such as 80 and 40 although I have done it
on 20. The bandspread is probably the most complicated (mechanically) ever
built.
None of the voltages are regulated so if the wife plugs in the iron or the
refrigerator kicks on, you have to retune. Outstanding short wave reception
in the AM position or with the BFO Off and a 12" speaker such as the R-12T
or R-8T (8").
It has an RF amp front end for bands 1-5 but this single tube is not used on
band 6. They probably couldn't get it to work up there (60 mhz).
Very heavy, and large, an uninspiring black (wrinkle) finish but if you get
a good one or one that can be refurbished, a shiny silver dial and an
original finish then you have a very nice receiver only people on this list
could love.
