When I got my SX-16, it had a dial light fixture in about the two 
o'clock position of the dial.  It had a groove for a rotatable hood, 
like some nightlights.  Since it wasn't very useful without the hood, 
and I assumed the light was a "usermod" (as we said in the IBM world), I 
removed it and put a snap-in plug in the hole.  I don't remember if the 
wiring struck me as factory.

I'd be very interested to know if these actually did come with a light. 
  I usually just keep a flashlight handy to help reading the dial here 
in my declining years.
