Clean it????  Horrors!  You'll destroy the authenticity of the radio. 
Y'see "Nicotine" was a preservative chemical applied to all electronic 
equipment and components in the 1930's through the 1950's (as in "My 
chassis wasn't anodized, it was Nicotized.").  If you want proof of my 
contention, order some NOS parts from any vendor on eBay. Upon opening 
the box, the distinctive aroma assaulting you will convince you that 
these items have Nicotized -- which is why they've survived for fifty 
years or more.
