Hi Mike;
The speaker you have is probably 3.2 or 8 ohms. Disconnect the
transformer and measure the speaker's resistance with an ohmmeter. A 3.2
ohm will measure around 3 ohms and a 8 ohm around 6-7 ohms. If the voice
coil is open or you are uncertain, you can replace the speaker and
transformer both. The plate load impedance for a 12V6 is 5,000 ohms. You
can use any speaker along with a transformer that will match the
speaker's impedance to 5, 000 ohms. Antique Electronic Supply has a
couple that will work. p/n P-TA-8037, 5K primary to 3.2 secondary for
$9.95 I have several 4 ohm speakers that would work with it. They are
Motorola or GE mobile communications 5 inch speakers with mounting
brackets. AES also has p/n P-T31 a 5k primary to 8 ohm secondary for
$13.60. I have a 8 ohm speaker in a wood case available. I need $10 plus
shipping for either speaker. Good luck.
