[Hallicrafters] Replacing Caps: Right way vs aesthetical way

So, what IS the correct size wire to use when wiring a 240 VAC circuit 
for an amplifier?  What about gauge and construction -- solid or 
standed? And, for that matter, what about color? Should the wire 
insulation be solid or striped?  PVC or Teflon?  Should a vintage amp be 
wired with cotton covered wire?  Varnished or push-back?  My gawd -- 
there's so MUCH to consider!!!

Gee, I'm glad WE'RE sane -- heh, heh.  Well, gotta go.  I have old tune 
socket terminals to polish with jeweler's rouge.
