[Hallicrafters] HT-44 Transmitter Problem

I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, as it depends 
on a specific setup, but here goes...

With my HT-44/SX-117 interconnected and switches set for "slave" 
operation of the HT-44, and a pot across the SX-117 muting terminals to 
control the monitor level in transmit (per SX-117 manual), if the 
monitor control is turned up very far at all I get the same symptoms you 
do.  Turning the monitor level down allows correct operation and full 
power out.  A difference is that in my case I believe it happens on any 
band.

I've also had this problem on the higher bands when fooling around with 
interconnect cables other than 28" RG-62 cables.
