I'm not enough of an "engineer" to know why your HT32 is losing power, but I
concur with the suggestions of changing the caps. I just (got it on the air
Thurs!) fixed up my HT32. I replaced the LV can caps with 2 100MFD 450 V
caps (the originals were 60/40 at 475) and the 2 in the bias supply. I left
the can there and mounted the new caps underneath. There's plenty of room.
I also replaced a few paper caps and one mica that looked waxy. There are a
couple more electrolytics and a few paper that are in the ssb generator
section, but I felt that it was too big a project to dissasemble, and they
had big resistors in series, so that if the caps shorted, I doubt that it
would blow the transformer.
Fired it up, and worked a DU on 15 cw with a dipole right away! Tried it on
40 phone, and the first audio report was "best tube audio I've ever heard."
And, it looks great with the SX101 and HA1 keyer!
