Glen,
I have shipped with UPS for 25 years and have never experienced that
kind of damage in any way shape or form.
I sent a computer to the UPS testing facility several years ago for a
customer. They keep it about 3 weeks or so , it gets shipped in the
packing as submitted. Goes to at least 10 sorts and goes on a shaker
table for vibration testing. It has to work coming in and going out.
UPS then certifies that packing for further shipping. I then shipped
over 1200 computers for that financial service with one total damage
that UPS issued a LDI on receiving at the consignee without any hassle.
In 25 years I have had to pay one claim for a package that was shipped
by a new former employee when I was out of the shop.
UPS is a lot better to work with on claims than FEDEX which is all
screwed up. Cost more and I only use them when a customer has an account
with them or requests them.
