I got a 4 ohm 6x9 for my R-44 from Antique Electronic Supply,
www.tubesandmore.com , last year, but they don't seem to still have the
smaller oval they had at the time.
I had a couple of woofers from some old hi-fi speakers rebuilt by the
guys at www.circuitshop.com for $40 each. Go to their website where
they give instructions for getting a quote. They will quote based on
your email description of the speaker. I think that once you give them
the size and source of the speaker they know all they need to know to
rebuild it and will stick to the quoted price.
Otherwise, I'd just find something that fits, even a five-inch round
speaker. It won't hurt anything to use an 8 ohm speaker, you just might
lose a little volume. I've used 8 ohm TEAC's on all my 3.2 ohm Halli's
at one time or another with no problems.
