The HT-32A also uses a 6680/12AU7 as a balanced modulator while the HT-32B
uses the 7360, a gated tube designed for that purpose. I doubt if one works
any better in practice than the other 40 years later if the circuitry is
properly adjusted. The 7360's tend to be expensive nowadays.
The HT-32B also has dial calibration markers every khz, same as the SX-115
which is what it was designed to mate with. The calibration on mine is very
good, within 200hz across the scale at any khz marker.
There are other various circuitry differences between the two, FSK hookup
for RTTY being one where things changed a bit, but I'm sure you would find
either exciter enjoyable to use!
Note that both have fixed loading capacitance in the final amp pi-network.
The HT-37 is similar. The 6146's won't be terribly happy if operating into
a load that deviates a bunch from 50 ohms, so keep that antenna tuner
around.

The HT-32B has all the HT-32A has plus a separate crystal socket for each 10
meter band segment that is switchable. It also sports a different front
panel with windows for various controls.
Joe Asks:
What are the major differences between the HT32A and the HT32B???
Is the HT32B such a better transmitter as to dissuade one from buying an
HT32A??
Would appreciate your thoughts on the differences.
