Ahhhh, the old separate subject trick:

99.8% Isopropyl Alcohol (not 70% rubbing... not 91% medical) is quite
correct.  It's pretty cheap, and works swell.  Once upon a time, I SOAKED a
SWAN 500C in the stuff, to get cramolin contact-cleaner/enhancer out of the
bandswitches.... worked great, but it WILL REMOVE any inked markings that
may be there, so be informed.

Audio Output Xfmrs.... I'm sure it's total heresy, but I've used old A/O
xmfrs. from All-American Five receivers, and many other sources.  Antique
Radio Supply has a few that work well... get the impedance fairly close if
you can't get the exact one... ALSO check the current flow to the audio
stage plates, AND the bypass caps to to those tubes.  SOMETHING made that
transformer open up!... and I'll bet it wasn't age.
