[Hallicrafters] Replacing Caps...the ultimate recap

All,
I'm new to this fine Halli site but first owned an SX-28 in 1966 as a Novice so its like coming home after a VERY long trip.I decided to renew my adolescent dream of owning an SR-150 so bought one from that "unmentionable" Web Site. Actually got a cherry rig but the PS-150-120 P/S was in need for an "upgrade". After reading numerous articles on recapping, your site put the fear of God into me (smoking inductors...) so I bought a few HV caps off the Web, a few high current diodes from Radio Shack (two in series for an embarassing reason), a 25 cent old fashion terminal strip from a local surplus store and spent last weekend with much success. To maintain originality, I bypassed the silver vertical cap while maintaining its presence (no time to re-stuff) with cleverly hidden subterranian tubulars via that terminal strip that exactly matched two inductor mounting screws under the vertical cap (there is a God....). BTW bypass and power supply cap values are not that critical.

Like most "projects" this took longer than expected so for those of you in need of a simple PS-150-120 recap drop me a line and I'll provide the details with a few pix to save you a few hours and better please your XYL.

Only one request from the gang....my dial light is out and the manual simply specs DS1 as a "pilot lamp No. 1815". Google produced a number of sources for a 2 watt bulb. Any hidden stories here??? I'd hate to melt an irreplaceable plastic dial
