First, let me extend a special invitation to KB6QAQ, David Lawrence, to join us
on Sunday November 6th. He may, or may not, see this e-mail, so if you know him,
or can contact him by telephone, "PLEASE' do so. Get him on the air guys!
David is almost 95 and has to transfer from his bed into a wheelchair in order
to get to his Ham radio. Several weeks ago he waited patiently for his turn.
When it came, he was heard, but then the propagation failed. I could hear him,
but barely. Gene, N0KAB in Colorado made a valiant effort to relay David into
the Net, but the QSB finally won that battle.
None of us knew at that time that David was 94+++ and what a struggle he had
fought just to get to his radio. So David, if you read this, (although yu do not
appear to be on any QTH.NET mail list as far as I can tell), we will give you
the front row seat tomorrow! Get to your radio David and one of the terrific
guys on the Sunday HCI Net will hear you and relay you in, somewhere, somehow,
they will make it happen! If there is a more helpful, caring and generous
brotherhood out there, they absolutely have to be some kind of fantastic, as the
Hallicrafters group, and associated vintage radio fans of other flavors, are
absolutely terrific! So you get up to the mike David, and we will make the floor
all yours!
The pre-Net will commence at the usual time of 12:45 PM EST,(1745 UTC) and the
Net proper starts at 1:15 PM EST, (1815 UTC). The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ
usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and raindrops falling on my roof! The next
blasted drop that drips in uninvited is going to get drip kicked into two parts
Hydrogen and one part Oxygen, along with various and sundry pollutants from
California smoglets to Pennsylvania acid rain particulate to Michigan automotive
manufacturing smoke thick enough to cut with an electric meat carving knife, be
tossed into a steam powered industrial garbage grinder only to make it gag! If
my new roof leaks, I will first tar and feather it with some seriously dumb
water resistant Ducks that think my TV antenna elements are flexible exercise
rods and then go after the roofers with some hot tar to take the roof out of
their woofers!
So if you are not water, drop on in and let's light up the dreary Fall skies
with some vintage vacuum tube wonders that still go glow in the dark and can
guide those navigationally impaired Ducks safely south before they discover they
can't fly through glass picture windows, quack up and go beak up!
Hear you Sunday! Be there! Be counted! Be proud, for you are the terrific group
of Ham radio operators that have made this incredible Hobby the envy of all who
still have not gotten the blinking red light on their VCR's to stop flashing!
