[Hallicrafters] SX 42 Audio Problems

Hello, All, I'm having an audio problem with my SX 42. It had lots of volume, then all of a sudden faded away to almost nothing. I hooked my long wire directly to the slug, and volume was up to full again. So there seems to be a problem between the antenna terminal strip and the tuning section. also, avc is non functional when long wire is hooked to tuning slug. I will welcome all sugestions & remedies. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
