[Hallicrafters] accessory plug for the HT37

I just received a new male plug for the accessory socket on my HT37.

It has the back cover with strain relief and comes with a "warped" ring that 
I supposed snaps into place to lock things together.

I have never seen this type of ring and wonder how does one go about putting 
this connector plug together with this ring???

Sure could use some help on this one.
