[Hallicrafters] SX-117 and Strange Happenings.

George,
Thanks for the idea. However, I have adjusted the BFO control to exactly
50khz which is what the service manual says. Prior to this adjustment, I
was receiving SSB either upper or lower in any switch position (excluding
AM). Since the receiver is working OK at this point, even though I had to
swap the crystals, I think I will leave it alone since there are no other
adjustments that can be made that will correct the problem that I know of or
that I can see on the schematic. I will continue to wonder about this.

Bill,
I had the same problem with an SX-111. It played great, only backwards. In
the case of the SX-111 it took about 3/4 of a turn on the BFO transformer
screw to set it right. I forget if it was in or out. I was about ready to
give the SX-111 away. I'm glad I didn't.
Good luck, George
