Yesturday my brand new (to me) HT-44/SX-117 arrived via UPS. My first Hallicrafters since the S-85 I got from my parents for Christmas in 1966. I opened the boxes last night and enjoyed looking over the radios. The aesthetic design is quite stunning actually. I bought them from the original owner and they are in wonderful condition. I had a chance to briefly listen to the SX-117 on 20, 40, 80 meter cw and SSB. Nice sounding receiver. There was a little hum at first that slowly went away. I'm figuring there are some electrolytics in there that were reforming.
Several years ago I bought a Hallicrafters desk mic new in the box, that typical mid 1960's styled mic with the bar button across the front top of the base, tear drop type mic head, Astatic? or something like that maybe, little vertical wing along the top of the mic head. It is black with a Hallicrafters "h" on the center of the mic grill. I never used it and it just sat on the shelf for 8 years waiting for the matching radio to show up :->> Finally huh??
I'm hoping to setup the combo and putting them on the air soon. I'll take some photos too.
