The oil filled capacitors VERY seldom go bad.  If the
hum isn't there on SSB then it isn't in the power
supply.  Check the components that are involved with
AM only.  Also, tighten every machine screw, nut,
etc., that goes through the chassis.  The grounds in
the older equipment is made through these.  Over the
years they loosen, become corroded, etc.  Tightening
them up usually clears up over 90% of "unusual"
problems in the equipment.
