[Hallicrafters] Is there a SX-23 in your collection?

Art, I had an SX-23 and passed it on to a local fellow collector who is not
on the internet. I had restored it. The paint color is wierd. I used a model
railroad color to touch up nicks in the cabinet. It was Brunswick Green
Floquil. It looks black until you buff it , then it gets a green cast. The
front panel escutcheon is clear coated and may look brownish as that clear
coat yellows. The odd thing was the dial string to operate a leaf switch to
the rear center of the chassis bottom by the lower lever on the left. Was
that ALC? Not to mention all the tuned circuits. Look out for the blooming
meter with B+ on it getting to ground. The painted chassis was cool and the
crystal for the crystal filter was jewel like. There are paper caps in the I
F cans. Be sure to replace those. Nice vintage receiver and not all that
common. A bit deaf on upper frequencies, but, hey , 1939 that was the way of
things.
Best of Luck,
Mike N8AZC
