Hi to the group,
I recently acquired an SX-88 that had been in the estate of an SK from
California. The chassis was very dirty with dust and animal hair but no rust or
corrosion. I cleaned it just using an old dry toothbrush and most of the
crud came off. There are no markings for tube types, no stampings on the back
next to the speaker and antenna terminals, and some markings in orange marker
or crayon that say "#2" or just "2". There was no serial number plate and no
holes where it should have been. There was also no hole for an SO-239
antenna socket. The chassis is black not silver in color. There is an extra
tube, a 6AB4 on the 2nd converter sub-chassis that appears to have been factory
installed as the tube socket and rivets match those of the other tubes.
That's about as far as I have gotten into it but any help would be appreciated.
73's,
Ron, KB0WAR
