Contrary to popular belief the EV-664 is a mushy mic. I own 2 of them and
always get less than ideal reports when using them, even on AM. ( They look
so good hooked up to an old rig) I get decent reports using an EV-638 on AM
and great reports using the 638 SSB. This is my own opinion based on my own
experience using the mics. I'll pass on what I've been advised. Get a D-104.
Good luck, George KB2Z
