[Hallicrafters] Why I'm a Hallicrafters Guy

I'm in the process of buying an HT-44/SX-117, and maybe have a lead on a HT-45 amp. Why am I trying to be a Halli guy?
A friend loaned me his spare HF transceiver, an SR-160, when I got my General in 1970. My bedroom was in the basement, AND my bedroom was also the ham shack. Talk about a great situation. Mom would call down "are you in bed yet" and of course I would reply 'YES', then slip the headphones on and check into the Midwest Country Cousins :->>>>>> I did quite a bit of operating after bedtime. That might explain why I was so incredibly tired in high school.

The SR-160 was a dandy 20,40,80 meter transceiver and I had a ball with it. Not much Hallicrafters experience since. Lately I've felt the siren song of the gorgous HT-44/SX-117 combo, and I decided to pursue them. I've always been partial to separate RX, TX. I plan to put the combo in one of the main operating positions so I can use it on a daily basis for classic SSB and CW.
