[Hallicrafters] SCAMS

I have had a couple of scammers answer my ad for S77 parts on the
Hallicrafters web page. The scam goes like this: "I want to buy your
parts. I have this friend who owes me money. Give me your address and
phone number and he will send you a check for $10,000. You deduct the cost
of the parts and give yourself a bit of a bonus for doing this and send the
rest of the money to me. My shipping company will arrange to pick up the
parts at your home". Yeah, sure! And what else?

The first couple of e-mails back and forth seemed geniune from an overseas
ham who did not have a good command of the English language. But then came
the scam, and an insistence on street address and phone number. I was
approached by two "different" scammers in this way about 2 weeks apart, each
with a different e-mail address but both served by Yahoo....ie-untraceable..

I have forwarded all of the e-mails on to Phonebusters.

Wonder if anyone else has had an attempted scam put on them like this as a
result of an ad in the Hallicrafters web page?
